Every figure we publish anywhere on this site comes from this page. Moisture, ash, fixed carbon, volatile matter, calorific value and sulphur, with what each one actually controls in your operation — and how to check that a supplier's numbers hold together.
These aren't marketing figures rounded up for a brochure. Each parameter is tested per production batch, not sampled once and reused across every shipment that follows. Fixed carbon and calorific value determine burn time and heat output; moisture and volatile matter determine how cleanly the product lights and how much smoke it produces; sulphur content determines whether it's suitable for enclosed or food-contact use.
We publish these figures because a specification only means something if it can be checked. If a number on this page doesn't match what a lab reports on your consignment, that's a problem on our end to fix — not an ambiguity for you to interpret.
Applies to all coconut shell charcoal we produce, regardless of shape. Figures are quoted on an as-received basis unless a buyer asks for dry-basis reporting.

A specification sheet is only useful if you know which number decides which problem. Here is the translation.

The chemistry is identical across the range. What changes with shape is density, surface area and therefore how long a single load holds usable heat.

In-house checks run on every production batch before packing: moisture, ash and burn behaviour. These are the checks that catch a problem while it can still be fixed, rather than after a container has sailed.
Third-party analysis is separate. Where a buyer needs independent verification, samples go to an accredited laboratory and the report is issued against your shipment rather than as a generic certificate with an old date on it.
If your process needs batch-level documentation — common for industrial and regulated retail buyers — tell us at enquiry stage. Batch numbering and per-batch analysis are arranged at production, not retrofitted afterwards.
This applies to any supplier, including us. Charcoal specification sheets are easy to write and hard to verify, so here are the four things worth checking before you believe one.
Moisture, volatile matter and fixed carbon are part of a proximate analysis and should total roughly 100% alongside the remaining composition. A sheet claiming 80% fixed carbon with little room left for moisture or volatiles suggests one of the figures doesn't add up.
The same fuel reports a higher calorific value and higher fixed carbon on a dry basis than as received. If the basis is not stated, the figure cannot be compared with anyone else's. Ours are as-received unless you ask otherwise.
A report with no laboratory name, no date and no sample reference is a marketing document. Ask which lab, ask for the date, and ask whether the analysis relates to your shipment or to a sample taken two years ago.
The only real test is burning it. Sample, measure ash yourself, time the burn, then hold the supplier to what you measured rather than to what the sheet said. Any supplier confident in their numbers will encourage this.
The standard above is what most buyers take, but it is a starting point rather than a limit. Ash tolerance can be tightened, fixed carbon lifted, and burn time adjusted through shape and density — all within what coconut shell can physically deliver.
What we will not do is agree to a figure we cannot hold. If a requirement sits outside what this raw material can produce, we say so before the order rather than let a container fail on arrival. A specification you cannot verify is worth nothing to either of us.
