Eight stages, one facility in Coimbatore, nothing subcontracted. This page exists because anyone can call themselves a manufacturer — the difference shows up in whether they can describe what happens at each stage, and what gets checked there.
Each stage feeds directly into the next, on the same site, under the same team. There's no point in this process where material leaves our control and comes back from a third party — which is usually where consistency breaks down between one container and the next. Below is what actually happens, stage by stage, and the check that has to pass before material moves forward.
Two suppliers can publish the same numbers. Only one of them will still be hitting those numbers on the fourth container. The difference is not the document — it is whether the raw material is consistent, whether the process is controlled, and whether anyone is actually checking before the bags are stitched shut.
This is why we produce rather than buy in. A trader who sources finished briquettes from third-party kilns is passing on whatever those kilns produced that month. They cannot correct a problem they did not create and cannot see. When a figure drifts here, we know which batch, which shell intake and which stage.
The stages below are not a marketing sequence. Each one changes a number on your specification sheet, and the page says which.
From shell to sealed bag, every stage happens on our own floor in Coimbatore — nothing sent out for processing, nothing brought back in from a third party. It's easy to list six stages on a page; it's harder to run all six under one roof, with one team accountable for each of them. That's the difference between a manufacturer and an operation that assembles a finished product from parts made elsewhere.
Each of these six stages has one specific job and one specific check that has to pass before the material is allowed to move forward. A batch doesn't advance from carbonization to crushing because a shift ended — it advances because the check for that stage came back within range.
This is also why the specification you see on a data sheet isn't really decided by the person writing the sheet; it's decided here, stage by stage, long before any paperwork gets printed. What follows is that process laid out in full, so you can see exactly where the quality of a coconut shell briquette actually comes from.
Cooling is carried out, and left to stabilise and then handled to prevent re-ignition and to settle moisture. Controls: safety, moisture.
Char is crushed and screened to a consistent particle size. Oversize and fines are separated out. Controls: density, burn consistency.
Screened char is mixed with tapioca starch and water to a controlled ratio. Nothing else goes in. Controls: binder content, taste neutrality.
The mix is pressed or extruded into hexagonal, pillow or cube form under pressure. Controls: density, dimensions, burn time.
Formed briquettes are dried until residual moisture is driven out. Under-drying is the most common cause of spitting. Controls: moisture.
Batch checked for moisture, ash and burn behaviour, then packed to your format and documented. Controls: everything above, verified.
Capacity only matters if it holds up on the fifth order, not just the first. Our line runs one specification at a steady, planned output — not scaled up hastily for a large order and quietly scaled back after, which is where consistency usually breaks down on repeat contracts.
Output is planned in advance, not reacted to. When a buyer commits to a repeat-supply schedule, production is sequenced to match it, and because it's a single-specification line, every hour goes toward the same briquette a buyer already qualified — not split across other products. This is also why lead times quoted at order stage are lead times we hold to, not estimates revised later.
A briquette can pass every check on the floor and still arrive at port compromised if it sits in the wrong conditions between packing and loading. Moisture pickup after packing is one of the most common ways a good batch turns into a customer complaint — and it has nothing to do with how the briquette was made. Packed bags and cartons are stored under cover, off the ground, and moved to loading in a sequence that limits how long finished stock sits before export shipment. Stock isn't left exposed to humidity swings or handled in a way that risks tears, crushing, or contamination before it reaches the container.
What leaves our facility in the condition it was packed in is what should arrive at your port in that same condition. For buyers on repeat export schedules, this also means production and shipping are timed together where possible, so finished stock isn't sitting in storage for weeks waiting on a container booking. The shorter that window, the less chance moisture or handling has to work against a batch that already passed its checks.
Most of what separates charcoal suppliers is not what they add to the process. It is what they leave out of it, and whether they will say so in writing.
No sawdust, no mixed wood char, no mineral coal dust. Blending is the most common way ash quietly climbs in this trade, and it is invisible on a photograph. The raw material is stated on the specification itself for exactly that reason.
Borax, lime and clay bind cheaply and add ash permanently. Tapioca starch costs more and burns off clean. If a supplier will not name their binder, that is usually the answer.
No saltpetre, no petroleum lighting agents. They make a coal light faster and taste worse, and they are the single biggest source of complaints in retail charcoal and shisha. Ours needs a chimney or a coil burner, deliberately.
Every stage above happens on our site. That is what lets us change a specification, trace a batch or explain a variation — none of which a trader buying finished goods can honestly offer.
Testing only at the end tells you a container is bad after you have already made it. These four points catch problems while they can still be fixed.
